A fastener 16 comprises a head 22 which is engageable with an article 12, and a shank 24 which comprises two legs 38, 40 extending from the head 22 and having backwardly bent end portions 50, 52 which are resiliently movable towards one another to allow the shank to be inserted in an aperture 26 and a workpiece 14, each end portion having an integral abutment element 58 or 60 which provides a surface 70 or 72 for engaging the workpiece, 'the two abutmeat elements being offset from one another and from the legs, whereby the abutment elements can overlap when the end portions of the legs are moved towards one another to allow the shank 24 to be inserted in the aperture. As shown, the head 22 is formed by end sections 27, 28 joined by a bight section 36 with which the legs 38, 40 are integral and the fastener is used to secure a moulding strip to an apertured panel. |
