PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit content data from a DVD player to an AV amplifier even when a display device is turned off and the authentication between the AV amplifier and the display device is disabled. SOLUTION: When a display device determines that the display device enters an operation state in which an AV amplifier fails in authentication with the display device, the display device transmits a notice to the AV amplifier of that effect. When receiving the notice, the AV amplifier changes a repeater bit to zero. The DVD player receives the repeater bit to recognize that the AV amplifier is a sync device, and is consequently successful in the authentication with the AV amplifier on the basis of only the authentication information on the AV amplifier. Accordingly, even when the display device enters an operation state in which the authentication of the AV amplifier with the display device is disabled, the authentication between the DVD player and the AV amplifier is successful, and content data can be transmitted from the DVD player to the AV amplifier.
