PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shape a grinding wheel into a shape equivalent to the shape of a formed dresser. SOLUTION: The dressing method for dressing an outer peripheral surface of the grinding wheel 16 with a protrusion 17 for forming a groove G on a workpiece W comprises a partial dressing step for dressing only the top surface of the protrusion 17, and the whole dressing step for dressing the whole outer peripheral surface of the grinding wheel 16 so as to remove the protrusion 17 for forming the groove G and then dressing the outer peripheral surface so as to form a new protrusion 17. Height of the protrusion 17 formed by the whole dressing step is greater than the depth of the groove G to be formed on the workpiece W.
