摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for processing a signal, capable of correctly binarizing a playback signal affected by optical spatial frequency characteristics or inter-code interferences in a recording medium such as an optical disk where data is recorded at a high density without changing a configuration of conventional PRML system. SOLUTION: The signal processing device 10 for playing back information recorded in a recording medium 1 is provided with: a continuous shortest recorded information detection means 4 for detecting a section where shortest recorded information is continuous from a playback signal played back from the recording medium 1; an amplitude adjustment means 5 for adjusting the amplitude of the playback signal of the detected section where the shortest recorded information is continuous; a waveform equalization means 8 for equalizing partial responses to the playback signal output from the amplitude adjustment means 5; and a decoding means 9 for executing viterbi decoding processing for the equalized signal output from the waveform equalization means 8.
