PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an α-glucosidase inhibitor derived from an edible natural material, having high safety and α-glucosidase inhibiting action, effective for suppressing the absorption of sugars in the small intestine to reduce the blood sugar level and useful for the treatment and prevention of diabetes, and improvement and prevention of obesity, etc.

SOLUTION: The α-glucosidase inhibitor contains eriodictyol-7-O-glucoside (3',4',5,7-tetrahydroxyflavanone-7-glucoside) expressed by formula (1).
