PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic composition that utilizes the characteristics of a poly-γ-L-glutamic acid cross-linked product which is not sticky on employment, well familiar with skin and hair, and excellent in moisture-retaining effect, and gives good moist touch. SOLUTION: This cosmetic comprises poly-γ-L-glutamic acid cross-linked product having a gelation rate of 50 to 100% in an amount of 0.001 to 5 mass% as a moisture-retaining agent.
