<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of manufacturing a holographic recording medium of high quality at high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: A holographic recording composition contains a photopolymerizable matrix binder precursor, a photopolymerization initiator excited with light irradiation to initiate a polymerization reaction of the photopolymerizable matrix binder precursor, and a photosensitive recording material included in a micro container. The micro container has a wall film having untransmissivity in at least a part of light within a wavelength range capable of exciting the photopolymerization initiator, and having transmissivity in at least a part of light within a wavelength range capable of photosensing the photosensitive recording material. The holographic recording medium has a recording layer formed of the holographic recording composition.
