For an apparatus for producing moulded concrete bricks having a mould which is held in a moulding machine and has at least one, preferably more than one, mould nests (FN) which are open at the top and bottom and a vibrating device by means of which moist concrete mix introduced into the mould nest or nests (FN) can be solidified under the action of the vibrating device and means for removing the solidified moulded concrete bricks from the mould via the bottom openings of the mould nests (FN), it is proposed that the mould be made at least partly, preferably at least predominantly, of plastic. The plastic is preferably introduced in the liquid phase into a casting mould and solidified in this by polymerization. A mould produced in this way can also consist entirely of plastic and/or contain reinforcing elements for mechanical reinforcement surrounded by plastic.
