A menu displaying apparatus of a portable terminal equipping a keypad indicating time information capable of displaying a plurality of menus and a method thereof are provided to control the portable terminal through a menu displayed on a keypad and improve the usability of the portable terminal. A controller controls in order to indicate a menu item corresponding to the selected menu in a display unit(S302). The controller controls so that controller confirm whether the menu item indicated through the display unit is changed by the key menu(S304). The controller confirms the menu item displayed on OLED keypad is selected(S305). It controls so that the function of coming under the selected menu item be performed(S306).
