PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film which is excellent in heat resistance even though it is an aliphatic polyester, has good transparency which the aliphatic polyester has, and is suitable for optical uses. SOLUTION: A biaxially oriented polyester film comprises a polyester comprising as a repeating unit, 1,4-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid and 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol as main components and having a melting point of≥200°C, and the heat shrinkages both in the longitudinal direction and in the width direction at 130°C are≤5%, and the total light transmittance is≥90%.
