An MMS(Multimedia Message Service) call processing method of a pre-paid service subscriber is provided to convert and transmit an MMS message into an SMS message by changing the service option field of the MMS message into an SMS type. A mobile communication terminal(10) prepares an MMS message. The transmission of the MMS message is requested from an originating-side mobile switching center(MSC)(20) to which the terminal belongs(S10). An originating-side message service center requests information about a terminal subscriber from an originating-side home location register(HLR)(30)(S20). The HLR checks and confirms a subscriber information database equipped within the HLR(S30). If the subscriber is not a pre-paid service subscriber, the HLR makes the MSC perform the general MMS call processing procedure(S31). The MSC transmits the MMS message which a caller requests to a multimedia message service center(MMSC). The MMSC inquires the routing information of a destination-side terminal in a destination-side HLR, and then transmits the MMS message to an destination-side mobile switching center to which the destination-side terminal belongs.
