The method involves injecting an air-fuel mixture into a reaction chamber (5) at a speed that is different from that of a fluid in the reaction chamber. The speed is adjusted such that vortices (10) are formed at a boundary surface (11) between the mixture and the surrounding fluid. A fuel or the air-fuel mixture is injected into the reaction chamber as a pilot fuel through a pilot burner (4) of a premixing burner (1). The pilot fuel is transferred in parallel to or in anti-parallel to the air-fuel mixture in the reaction chamber.
