PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a situation where deterioration detection of a battery is not executed for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The battery deterioration detecting device has an automatic stop control means. The automatic stop control means performs combustion restart when a piston during stop is at a predetermined combustion restart position, and performs restart by a starter 14 when the piston is not at the combustion restart position, with respect to an engine 12 during idling stop. A first battery 20 supplying electric power to an electric load 18 during the idling stop, a second battery 22 supplying electric power to the starter, and a battery deterioration detecting means detecting a deterioration state of the second battery, are provided. When the second battery deterioration detection condition is satisfied, the automatic stop control means makes the starter restart the engine even when the piston during the stop is at the combustion restart position. The battery deterioration detection means detects the deterioration state of the second battery based on voltage reduction of the second battery caused by the supply of the electric power to the starter.
