PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device capable of making a paper feeding roller abut on a desired sheet tray without mounting or dismounting the sheet tray when feeding a sheet material from each of a plurality of sheet trays by using one paper feeding roller. SOLUTION: A paper feeding cassette 7 is provided with a manually operated tray 13 at an upper step and a paper feeding tray 12 at a lower step. In the manually operated tray 13, a first slide plate 71 and a second slide plate 72 are slidably supported on a front end side and a rear end side with respect to a tray body 70, respectively. The paper feeding roller 25 is supported to a driving shaft 29 at the upper side of the paper feeding cassette 7 to swing. The paper feeding roller 25 is abutted on the paper feeding tray 12 while the first slide plate 71 is stored in the tray body 70. When the second slide plate 72 is pulled out, the first slide plate 71 is pushed out forward and the paper feeding roller 25 is lifted to the upper face side of the first slide plate 71 in an interlocking relationship with an operation for pulling it out.
