<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, when a partial area of an initially displayed map image is selected, useful map information of the area. <P>SOLUTION: A map information providing device makes a detail map image, which is a map image obtained by enlarging a partial area of a map image for initial display, include map information not existing in the map image for initial display.
