PURPOSE: A secondary battery with improved safety is provided to prevent danger of physical damage by discharging inner materials of a battery to the outside by rapidly emitting gas in an abnormal operation of a battery. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a can, and a cap assembly. The electrode assembly includes an anode, a cathode, and a separator. The can includes a cylindrical side board, lower panel, and vent (210a). The side board surrounds the outer surface of the electrode assembly. The lower panel seals the lower part of the cylindrical side board tightly. The vent is formed in any one of the side board, the lower panel, and a corner where the side board and lower panel meet. |
