METHOD OF IDENTIFYING A MOBILE STATION

PURPOSE: A method for identifying a mobile station is provided to prevent the identifier of the mobile station from being exposed using an additional ID for temporarily using until the authentication process is completed. CONSTITUTION: A mobile station transmits the ranging request message including a hashed MAC(Media Access Control) address to the base station in order to perform the initial ranging(S630). The mobile station receives the ranging response message including a temporary station ID from the base station(S640). The temporary station ID offers the security about the MAC address for distinguishing the mobile station in the base station or the station identifier. The hashed MAC address is generated by using at least one of the mobile ID, the nonce value of the mobile station and the base ID.
