The invention relates to the encoding/decoding of a signal into several sub-bands, in which at least a first and a second adjacent sub-bands are encoded by a transform (601, 602). More particularly, and in order to apply a perceptual weighing to at least the second sub-band in the transformed domain, the method comprises: determining at least one frequency masking threshold (606) to be applied to the second sub-band; and standardising the masking threshold in order to provide a spectral continuity between the above-mentioned first and second sub-bands. The invention can advantageously be used for a perceptual weighing of the high-frequency band in the TDAC transform encoding of a hierarchic encoder according to the G.729.1 standard. |
