Clay-coated paper

Paper is coated on at least one side with a compsn. comprising clay (80-90% of which has particle size 2 mu), an adhesive, a primary dispersing agent for dispersing the clay in water and a water-soluble oxalate or oxalic acid as secondary dispersing agent, pref. in an amount of 0.75-1.25wt.%. Pref. the clay is kaolin, secondary dispersing agent is NH4, Na or K oxalate, the adhesive is modified or oxidised starch. The coated paper is pref. dried and calendered at >=90kg. per linear cm.
