<p>Sensing occurs between the drafting mechanism and the flyer head, and a fault signal is generated if the sliver breaks, or information of a pile of fibres is sensed over the head, a feeler which does the sensing being pivoted to either side of a normal sliver-engaging position. Specifically the feeler, has a portion engaging the sliver, and a second portion above the flyer head for fibre-pile sensing. Signalling lugs on the feeler more into a light beam, directed towards a p.e. cell, if a sliver fault is sensed, or alternatively a magnet on the feeler operates a dry reed switch. The lever is counterweighted, as by the magnet.</p> |
