PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary hearth furnace with which without arranging a leveling device in a bad surrounding furnace at high temperature, even in the case of becoming the different layer thickness in the width direction of reducing raw material supplied in the furnace, the raw material can be reduced with the obtained strength at the time of recharging into a blast furnace, without generating the unevenness. SOLUTION: This rotary hearth furnace is particularly provided with; a non-contacting type piling height detecting means for detecting the unevenness of the piling height in the width direction of the raw material supplied into the rotary hearth furnace; a plurality of reducing auxiliary burners disposed on the inner and outer walls or a roof wall in the rotary hearth furnace; and a reducing auxiliary burners control means for independently controlling the combustion of the respective reducing auxiliary burners from the detected values with the above piling height detecting means.
