<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of acquiring, as a destination candidate, map image data from a map database even when the address, facility name and the like of a user's destination are not clear. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 stores each facility to be the object of destination retrieval as landmark information, stores each facility of the landmark name as a landmark icon, and makes a user create a landmark map based on the user's memory on the screen of a display means. On the basis of the created landmark map and input area information, the image forming apparatus 100 selects the landmark information including the corresponding landmark name of a corresponding area of a landmark information storage section to create destination candidate area information.
