OPTICAL RECEIVER AND OPTICAL FIBER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver which suppresses the fluctuations in the signal received caused by the fluctuations in the intensity of an optical phase modulation signal input to the receiver and controls a deterioration of the signal demodulation characteristics, and to provide an optical fiber transmission system.

SOLUTION: The optical receiver includes an optical branching means which branches the optical signal; an optical detection means which detects a fluctuation of intensity of an optical signal from one optical signal branched; a delay-adjusting means which adjusts the delay of the applied timing of the signal light to a light intensity modulation means to modulate the light intensity, according as the delay of the optical detection means; a driving means which drives the light intensity modulation means so as to reduce the light intensity variations, based on the detected signal of the optical detection means; and a light intensity modulation means which modulates its intensity to make the intensity of signal constant and outputs a fixed optical phase modulation signal.
