1,274,120. Delivering sheets. ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER A.G. 2 Dec., 1970 [19 Dec., 1969], No. 57167/70. Heading B8R. A sheet delivery mechanism for a printing press comprises an endless chain conveyer, eg. gripper chains 2, grippers, e.g. suction grippers 6, adapted to receive sheets 3 from the conveyer and feed them to, and deposit them on a delivery stack 4, a suction roller 14 for engaging the trailing edges of the sheets during feed by the grippers, and one or more braking devices, eg. suction rails 19, the operative portions of which are disposed between the uppermost point of the suction roller and the rear edge of the stack viewed in the direction of sheet travel. 'The suction grippers 6 are oscillated about a pivot 7 by a cam 11 and deposit the sheets on to the pile 4 between jogger stops 12 and rear stops (13), Fig. 2 (not shown). The suction roller may comprise a number of apertured discs (16) rotating at a lower peripheral speed than the speed of sheet conveyance to effect sheet braking, the suction supplied being interrupted, variable in extent and controllable in time in synchronism with the conveyance of sheets. 'The suction rails may be located in line with the auxiliary grippers 6, suction -being supplied during a controllable time period. |
