The invention discloses a rubber composition comprising:
(A) at least one conjugated diene-based elastomer;
(B) a reinforcing filler comprising silica or a combination of silica and a rubber reinforcing carbon black;
(C) a sulfur-containing silica coupling agent; and
(D) dimercaptothiadiazole;
wherein the dimercaptothiadiazole is a dimercaptothiadiazole pre-treated with an aromatic carboxylic acid chloride or a dimercaptothiadiazole treated in situ within the rubber composition with an aromatic carboxylic acid. Also, a tire with such a cured rubber composition and a method of manufacturing is disclosed.
