1338037 Slots and seal ware supporting apparatus for furnaces FERRO CORP 1 Dec 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 55751/71 Heading F4B A travelling seal system for a furnace roof slot 11 traversed by vertical wave supporting rods 4B-4E comprises coupled shoe plates 1 moving around a closed path 8 some or all of said plates having recesses 34 defining openings 35 for said rods, end covers 41 pivotally mounted on the shoe plates to cover the openings 35 when no supporting rod is present. Each cover 41 is pivotally mounted on a pin 14 which also pivotally supports the ends of two shoe plates 1, the pins 14 being mounted on a chain 2 carried by roller frames 32 engaging an oval track 16. Each cover also has a guide 43 engaging a track 44 by which it is moved into position so that a notch 45 engages a supporting rod if present, which rod holds the next cover open. If a rod is not present a lip 42 on the cover engaging a support track 6 on the furnace roof 7 draws the cover into the position shown on the extreme left of Fig. 1 in which it seals the opening 35. |
