PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of realizing the arrangement without increasing the size of a hoistway, or the arrangement for minimizing the increase of the size. SOLUTION: The elevator device comprises a car 2 elevating/lowering in a hoistway 1 and a balancing weight 3, a rope 5 for hanging the car 2 and the balancing weight 3, and a hoist 4 having a traction sheave with the rope 5 being wound therearound. A turnaround pulley is provided in a space between the car 2 and a hoistway wall 1a when the hoistway 1 is viewed in the vertical direction at the predetermined angle inclined upwardly from the vertically hanging state via an angle adjusting stand.
