PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which is advantageous for thinning. SOLUTION: The battery has metal bodies 31 joined to a battery body 2. The upper layer portions 33 and the lower layer portions 32 of which the outer peripheries extend from the outer peripheries of the upper layer portions 33 are joined to the metal bodies 31. Plates 7, 8 at which cut-off portions 7a, 8a are formed are joined to the metal bodies 31, and the cut-off portions 7a, 8a and the upper layer portions 33 of the metal bodies 31 are engaged with each other. By this, in a state that the plates 7, 8 are engaged with the metal bodies 31, the plates 7, 8 can be joined to the metal bodies 31, and firm fixation of the plates 7, 8 becomes possible.
