<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently update data in editing a high-definition image. <P>SOLUTION: An original image to be edited is displayed using hierarchy data 136. When a user draws a figure 132 in an area 130 for editing, an image data update part generates a layer 134 in a hierarchical structure including only the area 130 where the figure is drawn (S10). Specifically, an image of the area 130 to be edited is located at the lower most layer, and it is reduced as necessary to generate an image of an upper layer, thereby forming the hierarchy data.
