PURPOSE: A screen editing method for a portable terminal including a touch screen and apparatus thereof are provided to execute an editing command set for a moved area by sensing a motion of an item in an editing mode. CONSTITUTION: A control unit displays an item display area including one or more items on a standby screen(S410). When an editing mode entry input signal is received, the control unit displays an editing command area including one or more editing commands on an editing screen(S415,S425). When the item moving command is sensed, the control unit determines whether the items are moved to an editing command area(S430,S435). When the item are moved to the editing command area, the control unit executes the set editing command for a moved area(S445,S450).
