The method involves identification (S1) of a set of blocks each having a conditional functional block (5) having an input and an output for transmitting data whose value is a function of a condition met by an input dat. Another set of blocks is identified, where each of the latter set of blocks includes an elementary functional block (6) having an input and an output. A partial functional size of a part of software is determined from a calculation of the number of inputs and outputs of the block sets.
