<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system capable of compressing a stored image in accordance with an output environment. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing system includes: a storage section for storing an image; a compression deciding section for deciding whether or not to compress an image; and a compression section for compressing the image, in the case where the compression deciding section decides that the image is to be compressed, with compression strengths different for a featured region in the image and a region other than the featured region in the image.
