<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control method capable of further suitably regenerating an S-poisoned noble metal catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control method is used for eliminating a harmful constituent included in exhaust emission. The exhaust emission control method includes: an exhaust emission control mode for supplying the exhaust emission to an exhaust emission control catalyst to be purified in a state that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust emission is adjusted to a stoichiometric or rich side; and a poisoned catalyst regeneration mode for supplying the exhaust emission to the exhaust emission control catalyst in a state that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust emission to a lean side relative to the stoichiometric side. In this case, in the exhaust emission control method, when the temperature of the exhaust emission exceeds a predetermined reference value and the continuation time of the exhaust emission control mode exceeds a predetermined value while the exhaust emission control mode is executed, the exhaust gas control mode is changed over to the poisoned catalyst regeneration mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
