<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the efficiency of range-finding in an imaging apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a controller and an auxiliary light lens. The controller selects a region for measuring a distance up to a target to be photographed from a plurality of previously set candidate regions in a region corresponding to the angle of view of a photographic lens, as a range-finding region. The auxiliary light lens emits auxiliary light to the target to be photographed whose distance is measured in the range-finding region.
