PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of generating stable discharge for detecting a coordinate position and of accurately detecting the coordinate position of a light pen.SOLUTION: A display device comprises a display panel that has first and second display areas which respectively include first and second display electrode pair groups including multiple scanning electrodes elongated in a first direction. One field period includes multiple display subfields, a y-coordinate detection subfield SFy for sequentially applying a scanning pulse to the scanning electrodes without interrupting application of writing voltage Vd to a data electrode, and an x-coordinate detection subfield SFx for sequentially applying a writing pulse to the data electrode without interrupting application of scanning voltage Vs to the scanning electrodes. In the y-coordinate detection subfield, the scanning pulse is sequentially applied to the scanning electrodes in the second display electrode pair group after the first display electrode pair group. |
