PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment apparatus capable of reducing glossiness unevenness that occurs when a width of a sheet to be fed is changed, an image forming apparatus, and an image forming method.SOLUTION: An image forming unit 40 forms a toner image on a sheet. A fixing unit applies heat and pressure to the sheet on which the toner image is formed by the image forming unit 40 with a heating member and a pressure member to fix the toner image to the sheet. A surface treatment unit 60 performs surface treatment by selectably heating an area to be heated to the sheet to which the toner image is fixed by the fixing unit. A control unit 10 detects a width of the sheet on which the toner image is formed by the image forming unit 40. The control unit 10, on the basis of a detection result, when determining that fixation by the fixing unit to a sheet having a first width is changed to fixation to a sheet having a second width larger than the first width, performs control to cause the surface treatment unit 60 to heat an area of the sheet having the second width corresponding to a position where the sheet having the first width passes the fixing unit. |
