PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device exhibiting highly efficient heat exchange performance using a magnetic fluid including needle-shaped or fibrous magnetic particles as heat transporting fluid.SOLUTION: A cooling device 30 includes: a magnetic fluid 1 containing at least a solvent 2 and needle-shaped or fibrous magnetic particles 3 dispersed in the solvent; a fluid circulation circuit 35 in which the magnetic fluid 1 circulates; an engine 34 as a heating element whose heat is absorbed by the magnetic fluid 1 in the middle of the fluid circulation circuit 35; a magnetic field generating device 20 for giving a magnetic field to the magnetic fluid 1 flowing in the fluid circulation circuit 35; and a particle attitude changing means 10 for changing attitudes of the magnetic particles 3 so as to change a direction of an axis of the magnetic particles 3 in the magnetic fluid 1 before the magnetic field is given to the magnetic fluid 1 by the magnetic field generating device 20. |
