<p>The present invention provides an apparatus and method to automatically turn on/off a hazard lamp of a car using a speedometer current value displacement. According to the present invention, the hazard lamp is automatically turned on/off for a certain period of time even without an emergency switch being pressed when a sudden deceleration occurs due to a sudden braking during vehicle traveling, and a speedometer current displacement exceeding a certain level is detected such that the preceding vehicle can be informed of an emergency and a collision accident be prevented. According to the method of the present invention, the hazard lamp is automatically turned on/off through a step of measuring the operating current of the speedometer; a step of comparing the traveling speed to a setting speed set in advance; a step of measuring and detecting a deceleration per unit time using the displacement of the measured operating current in a case where the traveling speed exceeds the setting speed; a step of comparing the measured and detected deceleration to a setting value set in advance; a step of operating a relay in a case where the deceleration exceeds the setting value; and a step of operating the on/off signal of the hazard lamp. The hazard lamp on/off signal continues for a certain period of time set in advance and is then automatically turned off after the certain period of time. The hazard lamp is turned off when an emergency on/off switch is pressed even during the on/off of the hazard lamp on/off signal. The measurement and detection of the deceleration per unit time using the displacement of the operating current is executed only in a case where the car is traveling at or above a certain speed.</p> |
