A computerized method comprising: receiving a high pressure value corresponding to fluid pressure on a high pressure side of a fluid circuit of a waste heat recovery system of an internal combustion engine; receiving a low pressure value corresponding to fluid pressure on a low pressure side of a fluid circuit of the waste heat recovery system; receiving an engine speed value; determining an energy conversion device output torque of an energy conversion device of the waste heat recovery system based on the high pressure value, the low pressure value and the engine speed value; determining a pump output torque of a pump component of the waste heat recovery system based on the high pressure value, the low pressure value, and the engine speed value; and calculating, the net output torque from the waste heat recovery system based on a difference between the energy conversion device output torque and the pump output torque.
