The present invention relates to a glass substrate used in a display panel of a portable terminal, and an apparatus to grind a peripheral edge of a plate. According to the present invention, a grinding apparatus of a polar coordinate system is capable automatically setting a correction value to uniform a grinding margin of work throughout the entire peripheral edge of the work. A camera obtains an image of a peripheral edge of predetermined three points or more of work before and after the work maintained in a table is processed. The difference between positions of a side of the work before and after processing is detected in each peripheral edge. A correction value to uniform the difference between positions of a side in the peripheral edge of the three points or more is obtained and set to a controller. The controller corrects a command value applied to a spindle motor for rotating a table and a motor for transferring a grinding stone to the set correction value. |
