PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated WC-based super hard alloy cutting tool, which is excellent in chipping resistance and plastic deformation resistance, capable of suppressing occurrence of abnormal damage and uneven wear, and exhibiting excellent wear resistance for long period. ! SOLUTION: A surface coated WC-based super hard alloy cutting tool is configured so that: (a) on a surface of a tool substrate, a Co enrich area is formed over a depth area of 5-35 μm toward inside of the substrate, in which the Co enrich area has higher Co average content ratio than that of inside of the substrate; (b) a Ti, Zr containing area is formed which includes at least one kind of Ti and Zr of 0.5-4.5 mass% by total amount, over the depth area of 3-15 μm toward inside of the substrate from the surface of the tool substrate in the Co enrich area; and (c) an area containing no Ti, Zr where there is no Ti and Zr, or where 0.1 mass% or less of total amount of Ti and Zr is contained, is formed in the Co enri |
