A loom (1) has a warp beam (6) for warp yarns (7) and a fabric beam (18) for receiving the finished fabric (17). Between them is located a weaving device (2) having a main drive (5). A fabric draw-off (13) is arranged in the region of the fabric beam (18). There is a drive (12) for the fabric draw-off (13) and a drive (11) for the warp beam (6). By means of an electrical connection between the main drive (5) and at least the warp-beam drive (11), these can work in an angularly fixed manner, so that changes in tensile stress of the warp yarns can be avoided. In the starting phase particularly, transient phenomena and therefore weaving errors can thereby be prevented.
