PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber porous preform with improved deposition weight of glass fine powder per one batch which largely contributes to the improvement in productivity and to the decrease in production cost. SOLUTION: This optical fiber porous preform is produced by depositing glass fine powder around the center member, and the pore diameter of the deposit is controlled. In the producing method of the optical fiber porous preform by rotating the center member and depositing glass fine powder around the center body, the pore diameter of the deposited glass fine powder is controlled.
