IN A RECTENNA (RECTIFYING ANTENNA), A LOW-PASS FILTER (LPF) IS USED TO PREVENT THE HIGHER ORDER HARMONICS PRODUCED BY THE RECTIFYING CIRCUIT RERADIATED BACK TO THE ANTENNA. THE PRESENT INVENTION PROPOSES A DESIGN OF A LPF CANDIDATE FOR THE FRONT-END RECTENNA FOR WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION (WPT) SYSTEM THAT HAS ADDED CAPABILITY OF HARMONIC REDUCTION. THE BASIC STRUCTURE OF THE LPF IS A HAIRPIN RESONATOR WHICH CONSISTS OF A TRANSMISSION LINE AND A COUPLED LINE. MODIFICATION IN TERMS OF A MEANDER WAS PERFORMED ON THE COUPLED LINE TO ACHIEVE SHARPER ROLL-OFF CUTOFF FREQUENCY, LOWER CUTOFF FREQUENCY AND HIGHER STOPBAND REJECTION. ACCORDINGLY, THE LOW PASS FILTER, LPF IS BASED ON STEPPED-IMPEDANCE HAIRPIN, SIH STRUCTURE, SUCH THAT STRAIGHT LINE GAP OF COUPLED-LINE SECTION IS MEANDERED TO PROVIDE INCREASED COUPLING THAT SIMULTANEOUSLY EQUALIZE THE EVEN AND ODD MODES PHASE CONSTANTS; AND WHEREIN FRONT-END RECTENNA USES A MEANDERED-GAP HAIRPIN, MGH LOW PASS FILTER, LPF WHICH EXHIBITS ELLIPTIC FUNCTION RESPONSE. ACCORDINGLY, SAID MEANDERED-GAP HAIRPIN, MGH IS A MODIFIED STRUCTURE FROM THE ELLIPTIC FUNCTION STEPPED-IMPEDANCE HAIRPIN, SIH LOW PASS FILTER, LPF, WHERE THE STEPPED-IMPEDANCE HAIRPIN, SIH CONSISTS OF A SINGLE TRANSMISSION LINE AND COUPLED LINE, SUCH THAT MEANDERED-GAP HAIRPIN, MGH FILTER IS OF A ?SINGLE SECTION?, WHICH CONSISTS OF ?MEANDERED-COUPLED GAP? OF ?SPECIFIC? MEANDERED SECTION, AND THE OTHER PORTION THAT IS STRAIGHT LINE; AND TO PROVIDE MUCH SMALLER IN SIZE THAN STEPPED-IMPEDANCE HAIRPIN, SIH SUCH THAT SIZE REDUCTION IS ACHIEVED.
