The present invention relates to a method for operating a diesel internal combustion engine of a ship, especially a diesel internal combustion engine of a ship which is operated with heavy oil, and relates to a method for operating where fuel is sprayed into a cylinder of the diesel internal combustion engine of the ship by spray units (1) of a fuel supply system, especially a common rail fuel supply system. A pressure signal is detected directly in the spray units (1) by individual measurement for each spray unit (1) by a pressure sensor (15) allocated to the spray units (1). One or more characteristic values from among the spray rate and/or spray quantity and/or hydraulic needle stroke timing is determined individually for each spray unit (1) from an individual pressure signal of each spray unit. |
