Disclosed are a display device and a control method for a display device. The display device includes: a fingerprint recognition unit which recognizes a fingerprint and a motion thereof; a touch display unit displaying a visual content; and a control unit which controls the fingerprint recognition unit and the touch display unit. The control unit unlocks the display device to switch the screen of the touch display unit from a locked screen to a home screen when the fingerprint coming in contact with the fingerprint recognition unit is recognized as a registered fingerprint, controls the touch display unit to display a notification item selection screen with the switched home screen when a notification is even sensed while the fingerprint is in contact, and executes a control process on the notification item selection screen once recognizing a continuous movement of the fingerprint maintaining the contact. |
