The present invention relates to a polymer-clay nanocomposite and a method for preparing a cationic polymer, wherein the polymer-clay nanocomposite includes a clay compound and a cationic binder with oxygen barrier properties. In accordance with the present invention, an organic-inorganic hybrid material is formed by electrostatic interactions between the cationic binder and the clay compound. The polymer-clay nanocomposite of the present invention can be easily applied to an oxygen barrier film, based on low oxygen transmittance and high heat resistance thereof.
