PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide packet switching equipment capable of securing a ring network relay path even in the event of an equipment failure.SOLUTION: Packet switching equipment 1 which configures a ring-shaped network includes: a branch line termination unit 5 connected to a branch line port 2; two ring line termination units 6 which can be directly interconnected and individually connected to two ring ports 3; a packet switch unit 7 connected to the branch line termination unit 5 and ring line termination units 6, to relay a packet input through the branch line port 2 or the ring port 3; and a detector unit 13 for detecting an equipment failure. The detection result of the detector unit 13 is notified to the ring line termination unit 6 through a failure notification signal line 14. When a failure is not detected, a packet is relayed through the packet switch unit 7, whereas when a failure is detected, a packet is relayed directly between the two ring line termination units 6. |
