PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copying machine that can determine a reading target area without providing any sensor different from a reading mechanism.SOLUTION: A copying machine changes the reading position of a reading mechanism from a home position HP to a long-side position LP corresponding to an indicated sheet size under the state that the reading mechanism is prohibited from executing reading. The copying machine makes the reading mechanism execute reading of one line to obtain line data under the state that the reading position of the reading mechanism is set to the long-side position LP, and when the length ML in the main scan direction of a document DC1 can be specified by using the line data, the copying machine determines a reading target area in a document mounting table DT by using the length ML in the main scan direction of the document DC1. The copying machine makes the reading mechanism execute reading of the reading target area, and generates reading data representing a read-out image RI1 in the reading target area out of document images in the document DC1. |
