PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection device configured to prevent increase in calculation cost for extracting a contour of a desired object, and an object detection method.SOLUTION: An object detection device includes: a parallax value calculation section 3b for calculating a parallax value for each of partial pixel areas constituting an image, on the basis of luminance value information of the image acquired by a stereo camera imaging section 1; a determination section 3c for determining whether reliability of the parallax value calculated by the parallax value calculation section 3b is high or not; and an object detection section 3e for detecting an object from the image, on the basis of pixel position information of the pixel area with a negative parallax value determined by the determination section 3c, out of the parallax values calculated by the parallax value calculation sections 3b. |
